The PTC’s website, www.parentstv.org, is an up-to-the-minute resource for all things related to the PTC. One of the most valuable tools the website offers for families is the PTC’s Family Guide to Prime-Time Television™.  The Family Guide helps parents make informed decisions about their children’s TV viewing. The easy-to-read “traffic light” ratings system (red, yellow and green) signals a show’s suitability for youngsters based on profanity, violence, sexual situations and overall content.

The PTC’s Education Center arms parents and educators with the latest research and scientific data on media’s impact on children. The PTC’s Take Action Center empowers citizens to fi le complaints with the FCC, to register their concerns with advertisers, and to make their voices heard with their representatives in Congress.

The website also offers a guide to the television, movie and video-game ratings systems; family-friendly Weekly Viewing Picks; information on current PTC campaigns; and guidance on joining or starting a grassroots PTC chapter. The PTC’s weekly columns help parents make informed viewing decisions for their families. And our Cable Choice website, www.HowCableShouldBe.com, allows consumers to see for themselves just how much they are paying for the cable networks they don’t want or don’t watch.

The PTC Weekly Wrap is the PTC’s e-mail newsletter. Featuring news stories about the latest in offensive or dangerous TV programming, opportunities for activism and reviews of the latest G and PG-rated movies, the Wrap keeps PTC members in the loop on media matters of concern to

parents and families.

In cases of alarming programming requiring immediate action, PTC E-Alerts mobilize PTC  members, urging them to communicate their concerns directly to the networks and program sponsors. More than 200,000 people subscribe to the PTC’s E-Alerts and take action on a regular basis through the information they receive in these weekly e-mails.
