Guide to TV is the most comprehensive study
of this year's network prime time fare -- from a family-values perspective
-- and it is the only content-based guide in existence. This resource
contains the facts you need to make informed viewing decisions for your
family. Within the web pages of the Family
Guide to TV is a brief background
and thematic summary of every entertainment television show currently
appearing on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, i (formerly PAX), and CW. To prepare this Family
Guide to TV, we evaluated each series on the basis of its suitability of content
for viewers of all ages, not on its artistic merits. Every show's timeslot
has been factored into our analysis. The PTC rates each show using an
easy-to-follow traffic-light rating system:
red, yellow, green.
The Family
Guide to TV is the culmination of thousands of
hours of content analysis conducted by the Parents Television Council.
Teams of researchers have scrutinized closely every prime time sitcom
and drama series for offensive subject matter, employing the PTC's state-of-the-art
computerized Entertainment Tracking System to provide you with the most
accurate and up-to-date analysis of every show. Since 1989, we've examined
more than 125,000 hours of television fare, which has enabled us to document
long-term thematic developments and shifts in network programming standards.
