Carbondale
resident Deanna Gilbert has been a member of the
Parents Television Council for years, and has
now taken over the chapter from Daniele Loyd.
Gilbert, a
mother of two teens, has always lived in the
Midwest. She attended Oklahoma State
University, Stillwater, where she received a
B.S. in General Agriculture. Upon graduation,
Gilbert worked for the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, holding several positions until the
birth of her children. Currently a homemaker,
Gilbert is active in the community, volunteering
with the PTA, PTO, Girl Scouts, and her church,
as well as the PTC. Even with all of that, she
still manages to spend time with her husband,
David, a doctor, their children, and hike the
trails of Southern Illinois.
Gilbert, a long
time PTC member, took over the
Carbondale-Paducah chapter when director Daniele
Loyd stepped down due to time constraints. "I
was one of the original members of this
chapter," Gilbert says, "and always participated
in every campaign. When the position of chapter
director opened up, I knew that it was for me.
I have seen the PTC make a tremendous impact on
television in the past few years, and want to
continue this tradition. I look forward to
working with the community, and we will continue
fighting this uphill battle."
