"Murdoch and his chief operating officer, Peter Chernin, also acknowledged concerns from Crystal Madison, a representative of the Parents Television Council, about sexual content on certain News Corp. TV shows such as Fox's 'Family Guy.' Murdoch said the company would 'take on board what you said.'" - Associated Press, October 19, 2007

A note of dissent, however, came from Crystal Madison, representing a body called the Parents TV Council. She complained that prime-time drama series on News Corp's Fox television network showed inappropriate content at peak times, listing several shows as regular offenders - Family Guy, American Dad, Bones and Dirt.

CHAPTER DIRECTOR BIO:

Crystal Madison, a devoted mother, is the chapter director of the new North Jersey Chapter. Chapter Director Madison is an accomplished HR Professional that values the family unit. In HR, she endorsed benefits and seminars for her employees that both embrace and promote family unity.

A Nutley resident, Madison has long been a dedicated volunteer throughout her community. Madison is an active volunteer for the Special Olympics, Park Manor Nursing Home and Newmark Community Cares Organization.

After becoming more and more dishearten on what she sees on TV, Madison became motivated to initiate change. "There is very little left on the airwaves that doesn't involve graphic violence, twisted sexual situations or hopelessly dysfunctional families touted as mainstream." She reminisces on growing up on after-school specials and feel good shows like Fraggle Rock and Wonder Woman that promoted positive social themes, unlike today's raunchier programming. Madison has witnessed first hand the impact television has on children and wants to educate her community on its affects.

The North Jersey chapter will educate and mobilize the community to initiate positive change in the quality of entertainment.  Important issues are reducing teen sexuality and profanity in television programming.  The chapter will also take a watchdog stance on broadcasts and networks that ignore the FCC guidelines.
