Local Writer Lisa Meyer Named Chapter Director
The new chapter is headed by Hershey
resident Lisa Meyer. Meyer will be responsible for implementing PTC national
grassroots initiatives.
Meyer is the author and publisher of "Quotes for Kids" and the "Quotes for
Kids" Reproducible Activity Unit. She frequently visits schools speaking to
thousands of area middle school students each year about developing good
character.
Tim Winter, PTC executive director, said "Lisa Meyer is an ideal candidate to
become a chapter director. Having devoted herself to promoting good character in
our children, starting a PTC chapter is a perfect fit, both for our national
organization as well as for her community. We are excited to have a chapter in
the Hershey area."
In assuming a leadership role with the Parents Television Council Meyer said,
"as a parent, it is disheartening to see how media sex and violence impacts our
children. One of the reasons that sex and violence sells is because it appeals
to our lowest senses. As Americans, I think we can do better than that."
