CHAPTER DIRECTOR BIO:
Barrington resident Marcia Weeden has been named the
chapter director. "Marcia is a leader in her community," PTC
Executive Director Tim Winter said. "She is an organizer and a
motivator and these skills will quickly translate into
successful advocacy work for the Parents Television Council."
Weeden has been self-employed as a Quality Assurance Consultant
since 1996 when she founded Quality Excellence Services. She was
a member of the Toy Manufacturers of America where she worked on
their Consumer Product Safety Commission and Toy Safety
Committee. Marcia is a member of the American Society for
Quality. As the former Director of Quality Assurance and
Consumer Safety for a premium infant toy company, Ms. Weeden has
spent years working to ensure the safety of children.
"What excites me the most about the PTC is that they are not
affiliated with any political party or religious group, they
instead stand up on behalf of children," said Weeden. "Wanting
children-friendly programming cuts across all lines. It has
nothing to do with being ‘square' or ‘uncool.' It does have a
lot to do with wanting our children to be safe."
