CHAPTER DIRECTOR BIO:
Devoted Mother
and Volunteer Named Chapter Director
A Virginia native,
Merike Kai Rikken is the Chapter Director of the Southwest Virginia chapter.
After graduating from the Kopli School of Art in Estonia, Rikken worked as an au
pair and as an entertainer for children. Rikken is a former hospital volunteer
and a former band member whose band taught music to those in schools and
hospitals.
Rikken recently
started her own online website, which serves as a shop for baby clothing that is
of interest to parents who want to buy environment-friendly clothing for their
children. Rikken is also an instructor for babywearing classes at the Bedford
Pregnancy Center and local libraries. She is actively involved with local
mother’s groups SWVA Babywearers and La Leche League.
Rikken is excited to
start a chapter in Southwest Virginia insisting, “There is a loud outcry for
help in the community regarding inappropriate content on television and I want
people in the community to know that we can make a difference.” |
