Grassroots and Marketing Intern:


Grassroots and Marketing Intern Kimberly Sielen Presents The PTC's Display Booth at the National PTA Convention

The Grassroots and Marketing Department gives voice to the PTC.  This is where theory, research and statistics become actions that can lessen the impact the world of entertainment has on our children, one community at a time.  This intern will play a vital role in the successful operation of this department.

This intern will gain first hand knowledge on how to start up and run a successful grassroots organization at both the national and local level. The intern will also support the work of the marketing arm of the PTC.  You will play a crucial role in the conceptualization, development and ultimately roll out of national, regional and local marketing campaigns that support the mission of the PTC and the grassroots efforts in particular. 

Towards these ends, the intern will:

Grassroots

  • Distribute Chapter materials to our network of activists

  • Assist in training of chapter directors on computer and telephone systems

  • Conduct outreach to other non-profit groups, churches

  • Contact and recruit volunteers, chapter leaders, and committee leaders and work with grassroots director to establish new chapters

  • Oversee Chapter Manual production (and upkeep)

  • Maintain correspondence with current and prospective members as well as community leaders throughout the country.

  • Assist with national conference planning through research and booking of various venues, entertainment, transportation and other logistics

  • Coordinate grassroots mailings

  • Update the website

  • Facilitate attendance at conventions, fairs and children's festivals nationwide to promote the PTC and recruit new chapter members

  • Research

Marketing:

  • Write copy for brochures and other publications
  • Create and implement national/regional and local promotions
  • Coordinate Special Events
  • Learn the process for rolling out a national marketing plan including use of various media outlets.
  • Conduct marketing driven research
  • Work on Public Service Announcement campaigns with radio stations in major markets.
  • Conduct research nationwide on target markets, like minded organizations and other issues as they arise
