An intern in the Research and Publications department will be mentored in three main areas: research, writing, and analyzing entertainment content.

Specific tasks will include the following:

  • Assist Director of Research and Publications with special entertainment projects

  • Monitor assigned pre-recorded prime-time entertainment programs for offensive material (actually watching TV programs)

  • Document instances of sex, foul language, and violence in entertainment database

  • Contribute to the content of PTC publications and the website

  • Monitor assigned industry trade publications for pertinent entertainment news

  • Monitor assigned websites for pertinent entertainment news

  • Complete weekly reports/summaries on assigned shows

  • Assist with updating the PTC's "Family Guide to Prime Time Television"

  • Track commercial advertisers for the TV shows

  • Attend weekly PTC meetings with the Director of Research and Publications; give update on status of current projects

An excellent opportunity for students interested in research and writing. Interns are allowed to write articles and reports that will be published in PTC's Insider newsletter as well as posted on the website.
