Parents Television Council Launches Colorado Springs Chapter

Local resident establishes second Colorado chapter

LOS ANGELES (June 20, 2006) - The Parents Television Council™, the nation's most influential advocacy organization protecting children against sex, violence and profanity in the media today, announced the formation of the Colorado Spring chapter, the second in the state.  Local resident Dave Nesbit will lead the new chapter.

Nesbit, a father and grandfather of six, settled in Colorado Springs after receiving his MBA from San Jose State.  Currently working as Senior Manager for the Quantum Corporation, Nesbit also devotes much time to his community, as an active member of his church and as a Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America.  Nesbit is excited to start the chapter and stated, "As the Director of the new Colorado Springs chapter, I want people to know that with teamwork we can take on the media giants.  It is a David versus Goliath battle, but I feel that together we can make a difference."

Tim Winter, Executive Director of the PTC said, "We are excited to add Colorado Springs to our growing list of chapters across the nation, and are proud to have Dave lead this effort.  As a father and grandfather, he is an everyday witness to the effects of television on children and truly understands the importance of this issue.  We look forward to great things from this chapter."

The Colorado Springs chapter will educate and mobilize the community to initiate positive change in the quality of entertainment.  It will encourage local television affiliates and advertisers to reduce graphic and gratuitous sex, violence, and profanity in television programming, while promoting programming with positive, socially responsible themes.
