PTC Applauds NBC for Putting God Back Into ‘Veggie Tales'

LOS ANGELES (December 5, 2006) – The Parents Television Council™ commended NBC for putting God and the Bible back into the animated series, Veggie Tales.  NBC was recently exposed and denounced by the Christian community for editing out any references to God in the Scripture-based Veggie Tales cartoon.

The creator of Veggie Tales, Phil Vischer, reported on his web site (www.philvischer.com) that the last few episodes of Veggie Tales have not been edited by NBC.  "But the last four or five episodes, most of which had at least as much  ‘theistic' content as the earlier ones, if not more, came back from NBC standards and practices department with no requested edits.  None.  So they're going to air just the way they were originally written," Mr. Vischer wrote.

PTC™ President L. Brent Bozell issued the following comment in response.  "We applaud NBC for apparently reversing its decision and leaving Veggie Tales as it was originally written.  It's important for the entertainment community to realize here that Americans are more willing to watch programming that reflects their values, with Veggie Tales being one of those examples.  We hope that NBC will continue this upward trend towards including more programming that the entire family can enthusiastically watch and support."
