LOS ANGELES (April 11, 2007)
– The Parents Television Council™, the nation’s
most influential advocacy organization
protecting children from graphic sex, violence
and profanity in the media, announced Cindy
Moreno as the new director of the Salt Lake City
Chapter. She brings a successful track record
of activism that will aid in building the
chapter.
Moreno’s commitment to
children and family values has made her a leader
and spokeswoman around her community. She is
president of Communities for Decency, a
like-minded-organization that works on community
standards and decency issues. She is also a
member of the Utah Coalition Against
Pornography, Citizens Against Pornography, and
Legacy Law Utah.
“It makes me angry to see our
children being exposed to gruesome violence and
unabashed sex. As a parent of four, I could no
longer take it,” said Moreno. “With the help of
the PTC and local residents, we can stand
together to fight offensive programming.”
The SLC Chapter will assist in
introducing cable choice to state legislators. Moreno
has worked before with legislators on issues
regarding the protection of children and the
family. She was instrumental in having the Utah
governor and mayors sign a proclamation
recognizing the nationwide program,
White Ribbon
Against Pornography.
Tim Winter, president
of the PTC™,
said, “I’m excited that Cindy will bring new
leadership and energy to the SLC Chapter. She
emanates passion for her community and a fire
for protecting children. Her experience with
her state legislators and local PTA will make
her a valuable leader and I can see great things
coming from this chapter.”
