Prominent Pro-Family Organizations and Individuals Join Growing Chorus for Cable Choice

LOS ANGELES (April 23, 2007) – The Parents Television Council™ praised the National Religious Broadcasters for joining a large and growing number of pro-family organizations that are supporting cable choice, the ability for consumers to choose and pay for only the cable networks they want.  Despite recent news reports indicating religious broadcasters did not favor cable choice, NRB recently expressed support for the concept of cable choice in a letter to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.  And last week Paul Weyrich, chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation, also publicly declared his personal support for cable choice in his column on Townhall.com and the Free Congress website [www.freecongress.org].  These powerful voices join other prominent national pro-family organizations in support of this issue.

“NRB and Mr. Weyrich have lent their persuasive and influential voices in support of what we know to be true – giving consumers choice over what cable channels they pay for is the only way to enable them to be truly in control of the television content coming into their homes.  Families should not be forced to subsidize cable networks that air indecent, profane or graphically violent material.  Families are counting on religious broadcasters and other pro-family organizations to continue to lend support for cable choice.  We applaud NRB and Mr. Weyrich for joining a growing chorus calling for this solution,” said PTC™ President Tim Winter.
