Parents Television Council Awards Seal of Approval to Coral Reef Adventure DVD

LOS ANGELES (May 24, 2007) - The Parents Television Council™ today announced that it has awarded its Entertainment Seal of Approval™ to the DVD Coral Reef Adventure, a MacGillivray Freeman Film originally created for exhibition in IMAX® Theatres.

Coral Reef Adventure is not only a stunning visual production, but it has a strong educational value for the entire family,” PTC™ President Tim Winter said.  “It is because of films such as this that our Entertainment Seal of Approval was created.”

Previous Seal of Approval winners include Amazing Grace, Cars, Charlotte’s Web, Chronicles of Narnia, Deal or No Deal, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Happy Feet, High School Musical, March of the Penguins, and The Lake House, to name a few.

Coral Reef Adventure introduces family audiences to the beautiful world of coral reefs and shows that these valuable ecosystems are in danger of vanishing if we don’t do more to protect them,” said director/producer Greg MacGillivray.  “Our mission at MacGillivray Freeman Films is to create films that help audiences discover more about their planet and the natural world, and we are pleased that the Parents Television Council believes in the value of Coral Reef Adventure for audiences of all ages.”

Coral Reef Adventure follows the real-life expedition of two ocean explorers and underwater filmmakers, Howard and Michele Hall, on a daring 10-month journey to document some of the world’s largest, most beautiful and most endangered coral reefs.  On their journey from Australia’s Great Barrier Reef to the majestic islands of Fiji and Tahiti and the mysterious Rangiroa atoll, the Halls meet with scientists and naturalists such as famed ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau and deep reef ichthyologist Richard Pyle who are all part of a growing global effort to build greater understanding of these fragile and essential ecosystems.

Coral Reef Adventure is produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films in association with the Museum of Science, Boston; the National Wildlife Federation, Lowell, Blake and Associates and MacGillivray Freeman Films Educational Foundation with major funding from National Science Foundation.  The film was originally created for exhibition in IMAX theatres and is still being shown in select IMAX theatres and other giant screen theatres throughout the country.  The production is narrated by actor Liam Neeson and features songs written and recorded by Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Coral Reef Adventure retails for approximately $13.99 and can be purchased from the PTC web site, www.parentstv.org/store.
