Local Humanitarian Leads First Virginia Chapter
LOS ANGELES (June 19, 2007) — The Parents
Television Council™, the nation’s most influential
advocacy organization protecting children from graphic
sex, violence and profanity in the media, announced
Alnita Ann Holder as the Director of the Virginia Beach
Chapter. An activist and humanitarian, Holder is
setting out to help clean up the television airwaves.
A Virginia native, Holder always had a
great desire to educate and strengthen communities;
dedicating her life to protecting children and improving
media decency. She currently serves as Chair of
Empowerment’s Theater Organization, whose mission is to
deliver compelling entertainment alternatives in theater
that will uplift positive, social and moral change in
the local community. She is also active at her local
church participating in the a cappella gospel group and
serving on the fundraising board.
Holder is concerned with the growing
epidemic of television violence and sex. “My passion
for the well-being of children and the moral fabric of
society has spurred me to undertake the plight of media
indecency,” said Holder, “the mission of the PTC and the
role of director resonates my overall life mission of
restoring and improving our current media and
entertainment scene.”
Tim Winter, president of the PTC said,
“We are so honored that Alnita is joining us as chapter
director. The chapter will help alert and
mobilize concerned citizens about indecent programming
during the family-hour and other hours when children are
present. Alnita stands firmly committed to her chapter
and the fight to cleanup TV.”
