PTC Presents The Disney Channel With Entertainment Seals of Approval

LOS ANGELES (July 19, 2007) – The Parents Television Council™ presented the Disney Channel with entertainment Seal of Approval awards for its commitment to providing quality television programming that the entire family – and children of all ages – can enjoy.  PTC President Tim Winter and PTC Advisory Board Member and Actor Dean Jones gave the awards to Rich Ross, president of Disney Channel Worldwide, and Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney-ABC Television Group, today.

“For years the Disney Channel has been a model for family entertainment.  Current television series like ‘Hannah Montana’ and ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ stress positive values, and movies such as ‘High School Musical’ and ‘The Lizzie McGuire Movie’ have entertained children and parents without resorting to unwholesome language or inappropriate situations for children,” said Mr. Winter.  “We are honored to present these awards to the Disney Channel for its outstanding commitment to families.  We hope that more entertainment companies will follow their leadership and their demonstrated commercial success with wholesome programming.”

The PTC’s Seals of Approval were awarded to the Disney Channel for its television shows “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” “That’s So Raven,” and “Hannah Montana,” and to Walt Disney Pictures for its films “High School Musical – the Concert,” “Roving Mars,” and “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – The Friendship Edition.”  The PTC’s Seal of Approval is presented to theatrical films, made for television films, television shows and DVDs.

“There’s never been a time in American history when we were more in need of family-friendly entertainment from Disney.  The Disney Channel creates extraordinary opportunities for families to spend time together.  I was always proud of my association with Disney and commend the company on continuing the positive trend of family-friendly entertainment,” said Mr. Jones.
