LOS ANGELES (October 2, 2007) – The Parents
Television Council™ commended a Chicago area Suzuki dealer for
pulling his sponsorship of the FX program,
Rescue Me.
Daniel F. Sledz, owner of Fox Valley Suzuki in
Aurora, Ill., announced to the PTC Chicago Chapter that his
dealership would no longer support
Rescue Me.
“As a father of three very young children, I am thankful
organizations like yours are out there making television media a
safer haven for our youth,” he said in a letter. Mr. Sledz further
stated that his dealership spends millions of dollars in advertising
and has directed his agency to reallocate his budget away from this
type of destructive programming.
“We applaud Mr. Sledz for demonstrating extraordinary
corporate leadership, and we hope the public – and other business
leaders in his community – will take notice. Fox Valley Suzuki is
making a clear statement that they will not contribute to an
entertainment culture that glorifies graphic sex, violence and
profanity,” said PTC President Tim Winter.
PTC Chicago Chapter Director Bob Sherman added,
“Television sponsors contribute to the culture through their
advertising dollars. The content they choose to underwrite is a
direct reflection on their corporate values and beliefs. The PTC
Chicago Chapter is pleased that our local Suzuki dealer will not be
contributing to the filth on television.”
