Parents Television Council
Turns 50 in
Philadelphia
PTC’s Third
Pennsylvania Chapter is 50th Nationally
LOS ANGELES (June 5,
2008) — The
Parents Television
Council™, a non-partisan
education organization advocating responsible entertainment,
announced David Mattice as the director of the Philadelphia
Chapter. Philadelphia is the 50th chapter to
join the PTC’s national network. The PTC now has chapters
in each of the nation’s top 11 media markets.
A Pennsylvania native,
Mattice has found many ways in the past to educate and
strengthen his community. He has been a guidance counselor
for seventh and eighth graders and was the owner of Keystone
School Services, where he worked with schools and
non-profits to help raise funds and manage volunteers. He
serves on the Board of Directors for Souderton Educational
Foundation and the Harleysville soccer organization and
currently is the vice president of sales for new business
development.
Mattice is concerned with the
growing epidemic of graphic television violence and
gratuitous sex. “Shows like ‘Dexter’ and ‘Law and Order:
SVU’ are examples of where today’s entertainment is
going and that is straight down the toilet. I will be a
spokesman for my community in advocating for more socially
responsible and family-friendly programs by urging my
members to file FCC indecency complaints, contact our local
representatives and hold sponsors accountable for what they
bring into our living rooms,” he said.
Tim Winter, president of the
PTC said, “We are happy to have a local activist presence in
the great city of Philadelphia. One of the birthplaces of
our democracy is a fitting place to celebrate the 50th
chapter in our growing national network of concerned
citizens who are fed up with the state of entertainment
today. The Parents Television Council is proud to welcome
David and the City of Brotherly Love to the PTC’s grassroots
team.”
