Parents Television
Council Charters Fourth Texas Chapter
Lubbock Chapter Started by
Crosbyton Mother
LOS ANGELES (June 5, 2008) — The
Parents
Television Council™, a
non-partisan education organization advocating
responsible entertainment, announced Rebekah Robertson
as the director of the Lubbock Chapter. This is the
fourth chapter in Texas, joining Houston, Dallas/Fort
Worth and the San Antonio Chapters.
As a proud mother of four, Robertson is
deeply concerned about the quality of today’s
entertainment and the negative impact images can have on
our youth. “There is no greater calling for me than to
support and advocate for families’ pleas for an end to
vulgarity and profanity during the family hour. I am
pleased to take on this leadership role with the PTC and
join with other Americans who want to clean up TV and
return to a place where our culture takes responsibility
for molding the character of our children,” said
Robertson.
The Lubbock Chapter will both educate and
mobilize the community to initiate positive change in
the quality of entertainment. The chapter will also
reach out to local television affiliates and advertisers
to increase support for more socially responsible
programs. Robertson and her members will work closely
with local state representatives on bringing key issues
to the forefront including the restricted sale of
“Mature” rated video games to minors and cable choice.
A Texas native, Robertson has been a
longtime volunteer throughout her community. She is an
active supporter of the Crisis Pregnancy Center in
Lubbock and serves as Social Club President at Lubbock
Christian University. She also was a team leader for
mission service trips to Germany, Costa Rica, and Japan.
Robertson received her Bachelor degree in Bible/Mission
from Lubbock Christian University and currently is a
homemaker.
Tim Winter, president of the PTC, said,
“We have had great success with our Texas chapters and
believe Rebekah will be a great addition. Her passion
for the well-being of children sets a high bar for
others to emulate.”

The Parents Television Council™ (www.parentstv.org®)
is a non-partisan education organization advocating responsible entertainment.
It was founded in 1995 to ensure that children are not constantly assaulted by sex, violence
and profanity on television and in other media. This national
grassroots organization has more than 1.3 million members across the
United States, and works with television producers, broadcasters,
networks and sponsors in an effort to stem the flow of harmful and
negative messages targeted to children. The PTC also works with
elected and appointed government officials to enforce broadcast
decency standards. Most importantly, the PTC produces critical
research and publications documenting the dramatic increase in sex,
violence and profanity in entertainment. This information is
provided free of charge so parents can make informed viewing choices
for their own families.
