Parents Television Council Launches Northeastern Ohio
Chapter
Chapter Started by Local Business Man
LOS ANGELES
(December 4, 2008) - The
Parents Television Council™, a non-partisan
education organization advocating responsible entertainment,
announced Chet Green as the director of the Northeastern
Ohio Chapter.
As a parent, Green is
embarrassed by the obscene content on television.
“Everything is everywhere with nothing being taboo. With
young viewers in the audience, broadcasters need to be
responsible. Too often my family and I are assaulted by
vulgar cartoons and foul-mouthed reality shows. It is
embarrassing and it needs to be changed,” said Green.
“I am proud to be part of the PTC and I know that our
mission will resonate throughout the community.”
The
Northeastern Ohio Chapter will both educate and mobilize the
community to initiate positive change in the quality of
entertainment. The chapter will be a resource of free
information to the community on the latest news, studies,
and family-friendly programming. It will also reach out to
local television affiliates and advertisers to increase
support for more socially responsible programs.
Green is active in his
local youth and senior groups. He is also involved in the
business community and his local Chamber of Commerce.
Through the Chamber of Commerce, Green helps support the
Lake County Safety Council which promotes workplace safety.
Tim Winter,
president of the PTC, said, “The
PTC is built on a foundation of activists like Chet. He is
an outstanding volunteer and community leader with a passion
for protecting children against today’s graphic and
grotesque programming. The Northeastern Ohio Chapter will be
a beacon of hope to parents, many of whom have given up on
TV in the past.”
