PTC Congratulates Baker on FCC Nomination

LOS ANGELES (June 25, 2009) – Today, the Parents Television Council™ offered congratulations to former NTIA chief Meredith Attwell Baker after being nominated by President Obama for FCC Commissioner. PTC also urged Baker to articulate her stance on broadcast decency issues of great concern to Americans.

“We congratulate Ms. Baker on her nomination to serve as FCC Commissioner. We are hopeful that she will serve as a voice for parents and families who are deeply concerned about broadcast decency issues and cable choice. We encourage Ms. Baker to commit to enforcing the broadcast decency law just as Chairman-designate Genachowski and Commissioner McDowell did before the U.S. Senate. The will of the American people -- that broadcasters will be held accountable for what they air -- rests in the hands of the FCC and the Senators who will confirm the new members,” said PTC President Tim Winter.
