PTC Pressures Yum! Brands to Stop Support of Fox’s “Family Guy”

LOS ANGELES (March 31, 2010) – The Parents Television Council™ is asking Yum! Brands to remove its ads for Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut from Fox’s animated show “Family Guy,” citing recent episodes that have used prison rape, incest, sex with a minor, end of life issues, and a dog coming on to an infant as comic fodder.

“This kind of content is indefensible, and any corporation that willingly underwrites it must be held to account.  Yum! Brands is one of the most prolific sponsors of ‘Family Guy’s’ appalling content and we urge the company to stop sponsoring this content for the sakes of the families they serve in their restaurants,” said PTC President Tim Winter.

“By choosing to advertise on ‘Family Guy,’ Yum! is tacitly endorsing content that includes the father being sexually attracted to his daughter, the mother having sex with a teenage boy, and jokes about everything from Down syndrome to rape.

“‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane loves to talk about his First Amendment rights to create this type of content, but families have every right to express their opinions about this egregious show that airs during early hours of prime time broadcast programming.  We are asking our members to contact Yum! Brands and ask the company to reconsider its support of ‘Family Guy,’” Winter concluded.
