America’s Favorite Channel for Uplifting Music and Family Entertainment Honored for Upholding Positive Values

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20, 2010— The Parents Television Council™ (PTC) has awarded its Entertainment Seal of Approval™ to GMC, America’s favorite channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, for being “an authentic family-friendly cable network.”  GMC is the only television network to receive the highly coveted honor in 2010.

The PTC Seal of Approval is presented to outstanding films, television shows, advertisers and networks that emphasize positive, pro-family values and do not contain graphic or gratuitous sex, violence or profanity.

“We are recognizing GMC for upholding the positive values that families hold dear,” said Tim Winter, PTC president. “The PTC Entertainment Seal of Approval is an assurance to viewers that when they tune in to GMC they will be watching programming that does not contain inappropriate language or offensive messages.”

Charley Humbard, president and CEO of GMC, said, “We have always endeavored to make GMC the uplifting television destination where viewers go to be inspired and feel good about the faith-friendly family values they cherish.  This acknowledgment by the PTC, combined with our ratings growth, performance in viewer studies and #1 rating in Beta Research, are strong evidence that we are meeting the needs of the 40 plus million people who say they want this kind of entertainment.”
