PTC Praises New FCC Nominees, Recognizes Commissioner Copps

LOS ANGELES (November 1, 2011) – The Parents Television Council® voiced support for Ajit Varadaraj Pai and Jessica Rosenworcel, the two new nominees for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) put forth by the White House. PTC also recognized Michael Copps for standing up for children and families during his time at the Commission.

“The Parents Television Council applauds President Obama’s appointments of Ms. Rosenworcel and Mr.
Pai to be Commissioners at the FCC. Both have a commendable record of service to our nation, and both have demonstrated in words and in deeds that broadcast decency enforcement is an important function for the Commission. On behalf of millions of American families, we hope their confirmations will be swift, and that their ability to enforce existing broadcast decency law will be affirmed in the current term of the United States Supreme Court. We look forward to working with them to help protect children,” said PTC President Tim Winter.

“We also wish to recognize FCC Commissioner Michael Copps for his exemplary leadership during his tenure at the FCC. He has been a much-needed beacon of light for children and families. We are deeply, profoundly grateful,” Winter concluded.
