Fox's Family Guy
once again earns the title of worst of the week for its crass and vulgar
tribute to football. The episode of Family Guy titled "Patriot Games"
follows Peter as he joins the New England Patriots and Stewy as he tries to get
Brian to pay a gambling debt.
In the opening
scene, Stewie is playing bookie to his teddy bear Rupert when Brian strolls by.
Encouraged by the odds, Brian bets fifty dollars on Mike Tyson in a match
against Carol Channing during upcoming episode of Fox's Celebrity Boxing.
During the boxing match, Tyson beats the frail old woman mercilessly. After a
succession of particularly violent blows Channing stands up and asks "Is that
all you got you son of a bitch? You're going down!" Channing ultimately wins by
letting Tyson wear himself out trying to defeat her.
Stewie brutalizes
Brian in an attempt to scare him into paying the money he owes for his gambling
losses. Stewie breaks a glass over Brian's eye and begins kicking, punching and
hitting him repeatedly. Just as Brian is about to get up, Stewie pulls a towel
rack off of a wall and hits Brian over the head with it. He then submerges
Brian's head in the toilet and then leaves him unconscious in a puddle of blood.
The next day, still
unable to pay, Brian is again assaulted by Stewie. He sends Brian tumbling down
a flight of stairs. When Brian lands in a pile at the bottom, Stewie comes from
behind him and begins beating him mercilessly with his golf club. Just when it
seems inconceivable that the scene could become any more violent, Stewie pulls
out a gun and shoots Brian in both legs. Stewie then pistol whips Brian while
he pleads for mercy. The scene ends with Stewie setting his fur on fire with a
blow torch.
Brian eventually
gets his revenge by pushing Stewie in front of a moving bus.
Unbelievably, this
is only a fraction of the horrific content that comprised this episode.
Unfortunately, it will most certainly not be the last that we see of this sort
of content from Family Guy or the Fox Network.
