This week’s Fox
prime-time lineup was a proverbial slap-in-the-face to family viewers, as the
network reran two of the most offensive episodes ever. The Family Guy
episode entitled “Stewie Loves Lois,” and the American Dad episode
“Helping Hands” re-aired on June 17th and 18th
respectively. Each episode contained some of the most repulsive content ever
shown on prime time network television. For this reason we have made BOTH
episodes our Worst of the Week.
In the Family
Guy episode, Peter goes to the doctor for a flu shot. The doctor recommends
Peter receive a prostate exam. Peter, oblivious to how the exam is performed,
acts as though he has been raped. He runs out of the office with his pants
down, moaning. Back at home he huddles in the fetal position, shaking. Once he
calms down, Peter decides that the best course of action is to sue his doctor
for sexual assault. In the courtroom, Peter paints an unrealistic picture of
the doctor groping, fondling, and kissing him.
The American Dad
episode features a plot in which son Steve experiments with steroids, and as a
side effect grows female breasts. All the guys at school suddenly are
interested in being his friend because they enjoy being around his large
breasts. In an effort to defend his son, Stan decides to take steroids too.
Stan grows an even more obscenely large pair of breasts and uses them to seduce
the school boys away from Steve. The show ends with a photo montage of father
and son washing a car together and flaunting their female breasts.
The PTC is
extremely disappointed to see that Fox has now repeatedly shown disregard for
family viewers by rerunning this specific content. Such programming is simply
inappropriate for prime time network broadcast, and to ignore this is, frankly,
despicable. As a result the PTC must once again declare Fox and these two
episodes as the Worst of the Week.
