Family Guy
on
Fox
By Caroline Schulenburg
On Sunday, August 5th,
the Fox network invited the stars of Superbad, the latest sex comedy
geared for teens and young adults, to host two full hours of Family Guy,
with episodes featuring some of the most outrageous and depraved content of the
season.
Starting at 8 p.m.,
the episode titled “Deep Throats” featured Meg, a high school student, having a
secret affair with Mayor Adam West in addition to a storyline about Lois and
Peter returning to their days of folk singing, using marijuana as their
inspiration.
The episode that
followed, “You May Now Kiss the Guy Who Receives,” focused on the subject of gay
marriage and was replete with sexual innuendo.
The episode titled
“Bill and Peter’s Bogus Journey” treated audiences to another half-hour of the
most depraved and disrespectful programming imaginable. In this episode, Bill
Clinton is in town and befriends Peter. Lois is unable to resist the allure of
the former president and goes to bed with him, only to have Peter walk in on
them when they wake up. Peter is devastated. In order to make it up to him, Lois
gives him permission to sleep with anyone in the world he wants, no questions
asked. Peter decides he wants to have sex with his own mother-in-law and the
tryst very nearly takes place. But ultimately, Peter too finds himself unable to
resist the seductive powers of 42nd President of the United States.
A half-hour of
Family Guy is more than most families would welcome on any given day, but
choosing to air two hours of this disgusting program is certainly an incredible
affront to the public. Ignoring the fact that many young children are still
awake at 8 o’clock, and choosing to use one of the worst shows on television to
promote a movie no young person should see, is enough to once again make
Family Guy our Worst of the Week.
