The Singing Bee on NBC

By Caroline Schulenburg

Once again, The Singing Bee has brought fun and wholesome entertainment to families everywhere. The episode that aired on August 21st was both inspiring and exciting as six new contestants sang their hearts out to try and become the new Singing Bee champion.

In this episode Emily, a young office assistant from Michigan, tried for the title of champion by remembering correctly the words to various pop songs such as “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers and “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel.

In the final round Emily faced Marco, the current champion. When Marco failed to correctly sing the lyrics to Kenny Rogers’ hit “The Gambler,” Asia’s “Heat of the Moment” and “On Broadway” by the Drifters, Emily became the new Singing Bee champion.

The Singing Bee is a great program for families with children. The classic songs make this a show parents and children can happily watch together. Parents can revel in nostalgia and good memories; children will just enjoy the music, while becoming acquainted with many favorite American oldies. As the carefree summer fades away and is replaced with school, The Singing Bee delighted audiences with a final fun-filled performance, earning it our accolade as Best of the Week.
