Don’t Forget the Lyrics returned this fall to delight audiences
everywhere. Hosted by Wayne Brady, this enjoyable game show has proven to be
wholesome as well as consistently entertaining. The episode that aired September
20th was full of remarkable singing and special surprises.
Gabrielle Hatchett
brought her boyfriend Nathan and her good friend Kim to the program with her to
help her try to win up to a million dollars by remembering the lyrics to many
favorite songs. On her first challenge, Gabrielle chose a Barry Manilow classic
to win $2,500. Encouraged by this early success, Gabrielle chose to sing a song
from the 1980s category. Picking Kokomo by The Beach Boys, she happily
plugged in the missing lyrics with ease.
Gabrielle continued
to breeze through the songs she picked until she landed on the Motown category.
Her two choices were I Finally Got the Ring and Will You Marry Me?,
both by Nathan Reid. Gabrielle stared at her choices for a few seconds --
then suddenly realized what was going on. Her boyfriend Nathan knelt before her
and said, “This is me wanting to spend the rest of my life with you…” Opening a
box, Nathan presented her with a beautiful diamond ring. Gabrielle was
overwhelmed and before she knew it, Nathan had slipped the ring on her finger.
As Gabrielle agreed to marry him, Wayne Brady turned to the audience and joked,
“Welcome to Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire!”
Gabrielle returned
to the game, and soon continued her winning streak, singing her way through
songs by The Kinks, The Go-Gos and more, until she went home with $350,000.
