Big Brother 9
on CBS
Those readers holding their
breath to see if Big Brother 9 would clean up its act and stay off of our
Worst of the Week list can now exhale. With producers forcing
sexually charged strangers to sleep in bed together, this season is charting new
territory in the unrealistic world of “reality television.” The February 19th
episode, airing at 9:00 p.m. ET, featured two lovers sneaking into the bathroom
to have intercourse while housemates laughed outside the door.
Ryan and Jen are shown lying in
an oversized chair kissing when Ryan feels the need to tell Jen that he is
“horny.” (CBS was even kind enough to give the viewer subtitles, lest viewers
miss one word of deathless dialogue.) Jen and Ryan are shown separately in the
“confessional,” both explaining that they haven’t been able to have sex -- for
TWO WHOLE WEEKS! -- and that because they are only human, they can’t control
themselves anymore. They then enter the bathroom, where they can evade the
watchful eye of the Big Brother camera, and are heard making loud banging noises
as they engage in intercourse. While roommates catch on to what is happening,
Jen and Ryan parade out of the bathroom with a clear sense of pride. Jen says,
“we got our one and done.”
The clear moral of this story
is that humans can’t be expected to control themselves when they have been
deprived of sex for two weeks. Even if you are on a nationally televised
program you should throw caution to the wind and get your “one and done” in the
bathroom. Or so says CBS.
This type of promiscuous
behavior cannot be accepted as “reality” or presented as entertainment in the 9
o’clock hour. One must question the producers and editors of such content and
ask whether these individuals have any concern for families, or if they just
want to make a buck off of prurient curiosity at any cost…and the answer is
obvious.
