Best TV Show of the Week
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
on CBS
By Catherine Nailog
The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular that aired on Monday, July 4 at
10:00 p.m. ET receives the honor of Best TV Show of the Week.
The CBS special honoring Independence Day was hosted by Michael Chiklis.
Martina McBride, accompanied by the Boston Pops orchestra, sang two of her hit
songs. The crowd in attendance consisted of men and women of the military and
families and friends wearing their best red, white and blue ensemble. They all
anxiously anticipated the fireworks show held off of the Charles River. The
Boston Pops and The Soldiers Chorus invited the audience to sing along with
popular patriotic songs such as “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” “America the
Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” The Boston skyline was filled with a
fireworks show that lit up the dark night.
This show deserves to be Best TV Show of the Week because of its
patriotism in celebrating July 4, 2011. It’s a family-friendly show that honors
the servicemen and women who continue to keep America safe and free. There’s
wonderment and excitement in watching fireworks light up a dark sky. And being
surrounded by families and friends to celebrate Independence Day makes it an
even better American holiday to remember.
