Prep & Landing: Naughty
vs. Nice
on ABC
By catherine Nailog
Make some hot cocoa, gather the children, sit down and relax in front of the
television while watching a hilarious and family-focused holiday show, Prep &
Landing: Naughty vs. Nice,
which aired on Monday, December 5, at 8:30 p.m. (ET) on ABC.
The show has been awarded the Best TV Show of the Week
for its touching portrayal of the true meaning of family.
While in the process of placing coal in the stocking of a naughty child, an elf
from the Coal Elf Brigade left behind a fruitcake conduct calculator. The
naughty child attempted to use the fruitcake to hack into the Naughty and Nice
database. Wayne and Lanny of the Prep and Landing department were sent to
retrieve the lost fruitcake, assisted by a “naughty kid” field expert elf, Noel,
who also happened to be Wayne’s estranged younger brother. Wayne and Noel
couldn’t be more different from one another. Noel was taller, funnier, and more
outgoing than Wayne. Wayne wasn’t very happy that his brother was joining them
on this mission.
Wayne expected to be the Elf of the Year after completing the fruitcake
retrieval mission. He, Lanny and Noel located the fruitcake at a residence, but
mistakenly Wayne triggered a trap set up by the naughty child. The naughty
child, Grace Goodwin, caught Lanny. She was determined to get the password to
the database so that her status could be changed from “naughty” to “nice.” Grace
explained to Lanny that it wasn’t her fault for being naughty, but rather it was
her younger brother, Gabriel, who now received all the attention since being
born. With Lanny’s help, Grace figured out the database password and changed
her status. While celebrating her success, she noticed Noel and Wayne
approaching the fruitcake. They fought over the fruitcake, which was
inadvertently thrown out of her bedroom window onto the road. Noel retrieved
the fruitcake from the road and contacted Magee at headquarters. Magee told
Noel that in completing the mission, he’d likely win the Elf of the Year award.
Noel told Wayne about Magee’s news, and Wayne became very angry. Wayne began to
throw snowballs at Noel and complained about how Noel would always try to take
everything away from him. Wayne said to Noel, “I wish I never had a brother!”
Noel wanted Wayne to take what he said back. Noel admired his brother, in fact,
Wayne was Noel’s hero. Noel even gave Wayne a Christmas present of a Super
Sled, a toy Wayne had always wanted since they were kids. Grace was horrified
to see Wayne and Noel fight, but was relieved to see them make up.
Back at headquarters, Magee contacted Wayne to inform him that the hacking of
the database was causing every child worldwide to be on the naughty list. Grace
was sorry that her naughty behavior had made such a mess of things. Wayne told
her to be her brother’s hero. She helped Noel and Wayne fix the fruitcake, but
the fruitcake also needed to be attached to a powerful antenna in order for the
program to be fixed. Working as a team, Noel and Wayne were able to attach the
fruitcake to a rooftop antenna. The Naughty and Nice database then began to
work properly again. On Christmas morning, Santa Claus, Wayne and Noel observed
Grace receiving her gift from her brother through a snow globe. Gabriel gave
Grace a replacement Miss Whiskers doll, Grace’s favorite doll. Gabriel had
destroyed the original doll. Santa Claus said, “There is no greater gift than
family, is there?” Wayne and Noel were thankful to Santa for giving them the
opportunity to work with each other. Noel and Wayne shared the title of Elf of
the Year.
The holidays can be a frantic time of the year, when spending time with family
can be a blessing for some and a curse for others, sibling rivalry included.
Having a brother or a sister who mimics everything one does is infuriating;
however, imitation is the ultimate form of flattery. Having a sibling is a very
special bond, because a sibling helps bring out the best in a person. A sibling
nurtures childhood fantasies, motivates one’s competitive spirit, and provides
support whenever needed. Family is truly a gift that should never be taken for
granted, and the portrayals of Wayne and Noel in this television show is why it
has been given the honor of Best TV Show of the Week.
