Inspired by
true events involving a missing TV mascot, A Plumm Summer is a
coming-of-age period film focusing on a teenage boy, Elliott Plumm, who faces
family crises and new life experiences. Elliott’s challenges play out against
the backdrop of the crime of a kidnapping: the local TV celebrity Foggy Doo is
allegedly kidnapped, and Elliott enlists the help of his younger brother and a
new girl in the neighborhood to uncover the mystery.
The film has
some mild violence and the use of alcohol is presented as a problem. There is
also a minimal level of crude/bathroom humor present.
A Plumm Summer
has been awarded the Parents Television Council’s Seal of Approval because of
the film’s positive family messages. While the Plumm family faces difficulties,
they learn to communicate and understand one another’s needs.
The film is
not recommended for children under the age of six.
