Mike and Will’s
Kids Cooking for Kids is a DVD series in which boys Mike and Will teach young viewers
how to cook and shop for food. On the first DVD, the twin boys teach viewers
how to make fish in a pouch. In a Thanksgiving Special, viewers learn how to
make pumpkin bread and cranberry/tangerine relish. From viewing these DVDs,
young viewers learn safety tips for the kitchen, how to tell a good fish/tomato
in the market, and how to clean a salad. They also learn about the San
Francisco food bank, how to get involved and how to help the community.
The boys are full
of enthusiasm when it comes to cooking. They will inspire children to want to
cook. The boys are careful to state that adults should be around at all times
during the preparation of food. The boys are shown using knives to cut up their
food as well as using the stove under adult supervision.
Issues of sex,
violence and language are of no concern when watching these DVDs. Because the
DVD will inspire kids to want to cook, and safety is of importance when working
in the kitchen, the Parents Television Council does not recommend this DVD for
children under age 10.
