Teenagers love pop/rock music, and enjoy the excitement of
concerts; and “tweens” and even younger children seek to emulate them. Sadly,
little music is intended or appropriate for young kids…but now, to redress that
balance, comes the band Laughing Pizza!
Formed by two parents with classical music backgrounds and
experience in pop bands (including performances on the television program
Star Search) with their incredibly talented school-age daughter, Laughing
Pizza has become a phenomenon. The band originated when parents Lisa and Billy
Schlosser found their daughter Emily singing and dancing to inappropriately
adult music. “It was funny for two or three minutes, and then it’s not so funny.
If we were worried about that, there must be millions of parents who feel the
same way,” explain the Schlossers. “So we said, ‘let’s do something that’s kind
of cool, but still appropriate for kids.’”
The result was Laughing Pizza. The band draws in parents, “tweens,”
and younger children alike, giving them all the opportunity to share in enjoying
rock-style concerts, dancing, and music…but in a totally clean, safe, and
family-friendly environment. Their music is infectious in its upbeat happiness,
and Laughing Pizza’s lyrics focus on promoting good messages for children, such
as respecting parents, doing homework, or cleaning their room.
The two-disk DVD includes a full-length Laughing Pizza concert
video, a “behind-the-scenes” documentary about the group, and a “select a song”
feature. The second disk contains music from the concert.
Because of its delightful music and family-friendly values, the
Parents Television Council is proud to award Laughing Pizza Live! with
the PTC Seal of ApprovalTM. The PTC recommends this DVD for
viewers over age five.
