1) Participant description: I am a...
2) I believe television content today is offensive and dangerous to
children. There is too much sexual content, foul language, vulgarity and violence.
The problem is getting worse!
3) Today’s television programs have a powerful negative
impact on America’s youth and are contributing to the moral breakdown of our society.
4) Although parents are ultimately responsible for what their children
watch, the TV industry and sponsors should support parents by keeping filthy language, graphic
violence and sexual content out of programming during hours when children may be expected to be
watching.
5) I believe indecency fines for filthy language and sexually explicit
material aired during hours when children may be expected to be watching should be rigorously applied
by the Federal Communications Commission.
6) Television programs should be more respectful of religion and faith and
avoid ridiculing and insulting people because of their religious beliefs.
7) Too many television programs portray parents and other authority figures
such as clergy and police in a strongly negative light, and often present crime, substance abuse and
irresponsible sexual behaviors as if they had no negative consequences.
8) I hold corporate sponsors and advertisers particularly responsible
for the deplorable content of today’s television programs.
9) I will avoid buying products from companies that sponsor indecent and
obscene programming aimed at children and I will encourage my friends and family to do likewise.
10) I am doing more than just voicing my concerns. I am joining Pat Boone
in lending my name to the Parents Television Council's volunteer grassroots movement of parents,
grandparents and concerned citizens fighting to help restore safe, family-friendly TV programming.
