PTC Reveals 2004 Annual Top Ten Best and Worst Broadcast TV List

List Gives Parents a Guide to Follow and Allows For Educated Choices Concerning Family Viewing Habits

Los Angeles, CA---Today the Parents Television Council, the nation's most influential advocacy organization protecting children against sex, violence, and profanity in entertainment, announced its annual picks for the Top Ten Best and Worst Shows for family viewing on Broadcast Television. The Top 10 Best and Worst lists are developed by the PTC's research department and are ranked based on the content of the program and how appropriate the show is for children. This analysis constitutes the PTC's eighth ranking of the best and worst original series on broadcast television from the perspective of family audiences.

"With all of the entertainment choices on television it is hard for parents to discern which shows are good for family viewing and which should be avoided," said Brent Bozell President of the Parents Television Council. "This list looks at the content of broadcast television shows and is intended to educate parents about which shows their children can safely watch that have minimal sex, language and profanity."

The criterion for this annual ranking includes not only the frequency of foul language, sexual content and violence on the series, but also the time slot, target audience, themes and plotlines of the programs.
