Parents Television Council Names Regional Director 'Miss South Carolina' Ashley Wood to lead state-wide activism efforts

"I want to help children develop good character and make good choices in life. But unfortunately these are totally undone by the proliferation of entertainment sex, violence and profanity. These negative influences can undo any teaching parents, teachers or coaches instill in children. I want to encourage Hollywood to act more responsibly because of our children."

In her volunteer capacity, Ashley educates citizens across the state about how they can protect their children and grandchildren from the harmful affects of sex, violence and profanity in the media. She will also help the PTC to establish new local chapters in communities across South Carolina.

We are delighted that Ashley has agreed to join the PTC in this leadership role. Her commitment to protecting the welfare of children was evidenced by her principled platform at the Miss America pageant. Ashley will be an important advocate for the many people in South Carolina who share our mission.
