Big Brother
10 on CBS
For containing crude and
coarse language and for showcasing the ugly side of competition, the August 12th
episode of Big Brother 10 has been named Worst TV Show of the Weekfor the second week in a row.
While American athletes
proudly represent their country in the Olympics, the contestants of Big
Brother 10 scream and bicker like children. In this episode, septuagenarian
Jerry made it known that he wants Dan evicted from the house; but since Michelle
is the current Head-of-Household, she nominated her rivals Libra and Keesha for
eviction. Jerry must win the Power of Veto in order to force her hand. The
riveting contest for this episode called for the houseguests to chop onions for
45 minutes. Ultimately, Jerry chopped the most and won the Power of Veto,
causing three allies - Libra, Keesha, and Dan - to subtlety plot against one
another for survival. After his victory, Jerry – ever the sportsman – gloated
by flashing his middle finger as he pranced around the room.
Throughout the episode,
impromptu screaming matches erupted. Apparently, as the number of houseguests
decreases, the decibel levels increase. Michelle’s ploy to pit friend against
friend worked: Libra was forced to defend herself after Michelle heard her make
a snide comment about Keesha. Libra stated matter-of-factly, “People are going
to say s*** in this house about one another.” In the ensuing fight, Libra
revealed that it was Keesha who gathered the votes that got Michelle’s boy-toy,
Jesse, kicked off the show. But Keesha claimed that it was April who planted
the idea in her head. Fed up with the argument, Keesha had a mini-breakdown.
“You guys can f***ing vote me out!” she screamed. Sobbing and flailing her
arms, she proclaimed, “Look at me right now, I look like a f***ing crazy
person!”
The Olympic Charter states: “The goal of Olympism is to place sport at the
service of the harmonious development of man, with a view to promoting a
peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity.” Big
Brother 10 couldn’t be farther from this ideal. In fact, its creed might
read: “Win at all costs…and scream and curse as much as you can while doing
it.”
For foul language and for promoting unhealthy competition and poor sportsmanship
Big Brother 10 deserves to be the Worst TV Show of the Week.
