Don’t
Forget the Lyrics!
on Fox
BY CHRISTIE OSBORN
Singing along to classic hits like “Faithfully” by Journey
and “Stop! In the Name of Love” by Diana Ross and the Supremes is extremely fun
and energizing. Winning money for singing those same songs correctly is a great
bonus. Mike and Matt Landis, twins from Orlando, Florida, had the opportunity to
try and correctly sing some money-winning songs on Don’t Forget the Lyrics!,
shown on Fox at 8:00 p.m. ET, Friday, June 5th. The fun-loving host,
Wayne Brady, encouraged the twins as they attempted to correctly sing through
nine categories to try and win the big one-million-dollar prize on the
Best TV Show of the Week. The brothers showcased their love for classic
rock by belting out songs by Skid Row, Men at Work, and T. Rex, usually with no
hesitation whatsoever. Colin Hay, formerly of Men at Work, made a guest
appearance to sing “Who Can It Be Now?,” and had the entire audience up on their
feet singing and clapping along.
Matt and Mike’s brotherly bond was quite obvious as they
joked on stage together and confidently synchronized the show’s famous line,
“Lock in those lyrics.” When Wayne Brady asked what they were planning on doing
with their prize money, one of the brothers said he was hoping to renew his vows
with his wife of sixteen years. Despite their confidence and knowledge of music,
the brothers were unsure of their lyrical attempt to “lock in” Stevie Wonder’s
1985 R&B song “Part-Time Lover” to secure $500,000. They happily agreed to walk
away with $350,000 instead of risking it to guess the lyrics. This hour-long
show is very entertaining and makes everyone want to sing along, making it a
great opportunity to bond with family and friends and test your knowledge of pop
culture.
