Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space
on NBC
Susan, Dr. Cockroach, the
Missing Link, Bob the Blob and the rest of the gang from the hit movie
Monsters vs. Aliens returned on October 28th
at 8:00 p.m. ET, giving young viewers a Halloween trick AND treat with
Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, the Best TV
Show of the Week.
Suzy and most of the monster
team are looking forward to Halloween. Link has been waiting 50 years to scare
children, as a good monster should; voracious Bob wants to gobble all the candy
in sight; Suzy just wants to relax; Dr. Cockroach is content to stay home, as he
shares his bitter childhood memories of bullies taking away his beloved Swirly
Lollipop. But their military contact tells them of a mysterious UFO over Modesto
and sends the heroic monsters to check it out. While Suzy tries to explain to
her parents while she hasn’t visited, the other monsters go Trick-or-Treating –
until the neighborhood’s children are attacked by the title Mutant Pumpkins!
Realizing that the Pumpkins want to eat, not the children, but their candy, the
monsters and children combine to force-feed all their candy to the giant Mutant
Pumpkin. All the candy makes the Pumpkin sicken and explode, leaving the
monsters to enjoy the Halloween party with Suzy’s parents.
It’s nice to see that the
networks have not lost their sense of fun. Monsters vs. Aliens is a
throwback to the days when each holiday brought specials like It’s the Great
Pumpkin, Charlie Brown to TV screens to delight children. Suzy learns that
she should keep in touch with her parents, Link learns that scaring people is
not what it is cracked up to be, and Cockroach finds another Swirly-pop…which he
selflessly gives away to a child. Mutant Pumpkins gives young viewers
laughs, excitement and monsters aplenty – and even a warning about eating too
much candy. For giving children something to enjoy in anticipation of Halloween,
Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space is the Best
TV Show of the Week.
