Thunderbirds

Release Date:
July 30, 2004 Genre:
Family Fantasy Action Adventure
MPAA Rating: PG for intense
action sequences and language
Thunderbirds is an action-packed adventure film based on the hit British
television series of the 1960s, which followed the adventures of the Tracy
family. This time, they have to battle an evil villain who calls himself The
Hood (Ben Kingsley) who, aided by his henchmen, plans to rob every major bank in
the world. With Jeff Tracy and the rest of the Thunderbirds trapped in outer
space, it's up to Jeff's son and Thunderbirds wannabe Alan Tracy (Brady Corbet)
to save the day with help from his friends Fermat (Soren Fulton) and Tintin
(Vanessa Anne Hudgens).
Alan Tracy is the teenage son of Jeff Tracy who is made to attend school like
other normal kids while his brothers get to be Thunderbirds because his father
doesn't think he has what it takes to be a Thunderbird. Alan proves his
worthiness by stopping The Hood's evil scheme and saving his father's life.
This action-packed movie does contain some explosions and other intense
sequences that might be frightening for young children, but the scenes are
neither extreme nor graphic. The film also contained some fight scenes, but the
violence here was implied and highly choreographed so that the audience does not
see any direct impact. Because of these (mild) action sequences and some
thematic elements, the film is probably not appropriate for children under the
age of eight.
Thunderbirds is a great action/adventure film for children. Not only is it fun
and entertaining, it also teaches youngsters the importance of teamwork and some
of the difficulties of growing up and proving yourself.
