My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas
By J. Byron Dean

Release Date: October 25, 2005
MPAA Rating: G
Genre:
Animated/Children Fantasy

This holiday season Paramount and Hasbro Entertainment has rounded up some adorable little pony friends to tell a tale of love, compassion and friendship with the DVD release of My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas.

Minty, the newest young filly to the heard of My Little Ponys, is a lovely mint green with soft pink mane and tail. She's as darling and sweet as all the other My Little Ponys but she has a problem. Minty seems to be accident-prone. No matter how hard she tries, she just can't seem to stop from knocking things over and breaking or spilling things. But the others love her in spite of her short-comings.

Then on the day that the crystal candy cane is to be set atop the giant Christmas tree in the center of Ponyville, Minty has her worst accident of all! Seeing that the newly situated tree topper is beginning to tilt, she boards a hot air balloon and floats up to adjust it. But poor Minty, the balloon's basket takes a tip and knocks the cane over and sends it crashing, and shattering, into a million tiny pieces!

Minty worries that without the Crystal Candy Cane tree topper, that guides Santa Claus to the Ponyville, Christmas won't come this year. So, to save her friends the sadness of no visit from Santa, Minty takes on the task of visiting all of the My Little Pony's houses and leaving a Christmas stocking for each and every one of them. But soon she is caught in the act and just when she thinks her dear friends will be angry, she is shown true love and forgiveness for her accident.

The joy of that true love and friendship brings the joy of Christmas to all of the My Little Ponys and they have the best Holiday ever!

The main feature is 44 minutes long with a 20 minute music video, "Dancing in the Clouds." When it goes on sale on October 25th, there will be both a collectable VHS and a DVD that will include 2 additional sing-alongs, "That's What I Love About Christmas" and "Nothing Says Christmas Like a Pair of Socks." A Very Minty Christmas is also scheduled to air on PAX in December.

This film is suitable for children of all ages.

My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas has been awarded the Parents Television Council Seal of Approval. The Seal is given to outstanding DVDs, films and television programs that are devoid of sex, violence and profanity and promote positive family values.

"This is a joyful video for the Christmas holidays," PTC Executive Director Tim Winter said. "It reinforces the importance of Christmas and special friends. In an age of cynicism, My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas is an uplifting holiday treat."

The production, produced by Paramount Home Entertainment and Hasbro, is available in stores October 25. The DVD sells for $11.78 and the VHS $8.46 and are available for preorder at the PTC's web store.
