With a new action packed
blockbuster every week, The Lake House is a welcome breath of fresh air.
Starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves as lonely hearts who fall in love even
though separated by time, this romantic drama is recommended for those thirteen
and up.
When Kate Forester (Bullock)
moves out of her house on a lake, she leaves
a note for the next tenant. Alex Wyler (Reeves) receives this letter, thinking
there has been a mistake. He also lives in the house, but is living in it two
years before Kate wrote the letter. Writing her back, Alex and Kate realize
the mailbox of the beautiful lake house is some kind of time portal. The two
become time-bending pen pals, slowly realizing that they are perfect for each
other. They make plans to meet in the future, but fate tragically keeps the
star-crossed lovers apart, almost separating them forever. Somehow, Kate and
Alex must cross time and space, or risk losing each other.
The Lake House
is an enchanting movie that can be enjoyed by those 13 and older. The film
contains few obscenities the most prominent being two utterance of the "S" word,
there is also one use of "g-d—m", and a few instances of "Christ's sake" and
"Jesus" , finally there is the disturbing image of a man being hit by a bus; no
blood or gore is shown. Overall the positive messages in The Lake House
greatly outweigh the negative. Love and loyalty, and the difficulties of being
in a family are responsibly addressed, making this a film which families with
older children can enjoy together.
