This DVD has two
half-hour episodes, in which Christian singer/performer Mary Rice Hopkins and
her loveable puppets
Gringo and Ohno
teach children positive values through entertainment and song. Episode one,
“What’s in Your Hand?” explores the talents each person can use to glorify God.
The audience is encouraged to use God and the Bible as their compass and to keep
practicing their talents. Children are also told that every person can use their
gifts to be small yet important. Episode two, “Choices and Values” teaches that
what a person has in their heart is translated into words and actions. Children
are asked to look inside their hearts and see that we are hurt when others make
fun of us, and that can turn into us being sharp with others. If we are having
family problems that can make us sad and possibly turn into a need to act out in
order to get attention. The segment ends with a song saying that all things work
together for good.
There was no
objectionable content in either episode.
Because of its
portrayal of positive values and its relevance to children, the Parents
Television Council is proud to award Mary Rice Hopkins & Puppets With a Heart
the PTC Seal of ApprovalTM. The PTC recommends this film for
children age 3 and up.
