WALL*E (Waste
Allocation Load Lifter Earth class) is the last robot left on earth. He has done
the same thing, compacting trash, every day for the past 700 years. His
extremely curious personality causes him to marvel at ordinary human possessions
such as car keys and jewelry boxes, but even with all that distraction, he
cannot help feeling lonely. The only other living thing to keep him company is
his pet cockroach. This all changes when a space ship is sent to earth to
determine if humans can return. WALL*E meets EVE (Extra-terrestrial Vegetation
Evaluator) and immediately falls in love with her. The film follows the robots
as they go to a human space station and try to bring humans back to Earth with
the help of their new friends.
There is virtually
no dialogue in the first third of the movie. The plot is narrated by the sound
of WALL*E’s squeaky wheels and EVE’s hovering. EVE floats around throughout the
movie and her right arm doubles as a laser gun used to blast rocks, shoot holes
for escape, and exterminate threatening things she may encounter on Earth. After
leaving Earth, WALL*E and EVE find themselves illegitimately labeled as
fugitives and go on the run trying to make things right.
This film presents
children and adults with positive themes such as perseverance, love, and
curiosity and the characters demonstrate the importance of doing the right
thing, working hard, and never giving up.
Because of its
positive messages and family-friendly content, the Parents Television Council is
proud to present WALL*E with the PTC Seal of ApprovalTM.
The PTC recommends this film for all ages.
