PTC entertainment reviews provide parents with information concerning current entertainment offerings, including recommended ages suitable for a particular film and specific information about the content of sex, violence and profanity.  Television, DVD and film reviews are all carefully evaluated using the stringent guidelines established many years ago by the PTC (see ETS for more information). You can trust PTC entertainment reviews to guide you through the process of selecting appropriate entertainment for you and your family. Armed with the information contained in PTC reviews parents can be the final arbiter of what they or their family sees.

The Little Red Truck DVD

 

The Little Red Truck is a documentary that follows the experience of sixty kids who are selected to perform in a full-scale professional musical by The Missoula Children’s Theatre.  The goal is to provide children who are lacking exposure to arts the opportunity to learn about theatre. more

 


White Bear

 

This DVD provides an exploration of one of nature’s most magnificent animals, the polar bear. In an easy-going, casual documentary style, host Jimmy Wilson travels to Manitoba, Canada, “The Polar Bear Capital of the World.” White Bear features lots of footage of polar bears in their native environment, much of it close-up, and there is a brief look at how manmade pollutants are adversely affecting the bears and native Indian populations in the arctic region. more


Mary Rice Hopkins & Puppets with a Heart

 

This DVD has two half-hour episodes, in which Christian singer/performer Mary Rice Hopkins and her loveable puppets Gringo and Ohno teach children positive values through entertainment and song. Episode one, “What’s in Your Hand?” explores the talents each person can use to glorify God. The audience is encouraged to use God and the Bible as their compass and to keep practicing their talents. Children are also told that every person can use their gifts to be small yet important. Episode two, “Choices and Values” teaches that what a person has in their heart is translated into words and actions. Children are asked to look inside their hearts and see that we are hurt when others make fun of us, and that can turn into us being sharp with others. If we are having family problems that can make us sad and possibly turn into a need to act out in order to get attention. The segment ends with a song saying that all things work together for good. more


Life at the Pond: The Rise and Fall of Tony the Frog

 

In this episode of the animated Christian children’s series, Tony the Frog starts a paper route that consumes his life. His delivery tactics are quite aggressive and he carelessly destroys others’ property and deserts his friends in order to build his empire. His friends are concerned and pray for him. There is a stock market crash and Tony’s company is left in shambles. His friends send him a picture of all of them, and he returns to them and apologizes. more


Cory in the House DVD

 

Cory in the House is about Cory, whose father who works as a chef at the White House.  This DVD contains four different comedy episodes featuring Cory and his friends Newt and Meena as they try to impress a girl -- and destroy the Presidential Seal; write a new song for their band; and experience romance and a first kiss.

Andy’s Airplanes: Andy Meets the Blue Angels

 

Andy Meets the Blue Angels is part of the Andy’s Airplanes series. In this episode, Andy visits a Navy aircraft carrier. He flies an F-18 jet, uses the flight simulator, visits the flight deck, and learns about aircraft carriers and fighter planes. At the end he gets to meet the Navy Blue Angels, a special flight corps. Themes include being respectful, teamwork, serving one’s country, and using one’s imagination. more


Coral Reef Adventure

Coral Reef Adventure, produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films, is a documentary that follows the real-life expedition of ocean explorers Howard and Michele Hall. There is only one scene that implies the danger of death from the bends. This occurs when diver Howard Hall is filmed lying inside a depressurization tank, with his wife Michele, sitting by his side. The dangers of diving and not receiving enough oxygen are discussed briefly and responsibly. Coral Reef Adventure is a family friendly film that is completely void of sex, violence, and profanity and is recommended for anyone aged 5 and up. more

Originally created for exhibition in IMAX theaters, this DVD release of Greece - Secrets of the Past brings the big-screen beauty and drama of the film to the small screen. Narrator Nia Vardalos (star and writer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding) shows us how Greece shaped both the ancient and modern worlds. more

Gerald Mc Boing Boing

Gerald McBoing Boing is the story of a little boy who speaks only in sound effects and the adventures he has with his friends Jacob and Janine. It is based on the book by Dr. Seuss, and the television show airs on PBS stations across the country and is appropriate for all ages but children 6 and under will enjoy it most. more
