JD is a young doctor with an active imagination trying to deal with personal and professional obstacles. Friends and co-workers Turk and Carla and JD’s sometimes-love-interest Elliott all work in the hospital alongside him. JD and Elliott also find a mentor in the bitter and edgy Dr. Cox.

Most of the sexual content of the show comes from JD’s overactive imagination. In one episode he pictures himself in bed with Elliott and another woman. The show has also dealt with sexual relationships between the main characters: Turk with Carla, and JD with Elliott. Foul language on the series is mostly limited to minor profanities, though harsher language such as “ass” and “piss” occurs on occasion.

Because the show takes place in a hospital, medical procedures are often depicted. However, these scenes are not usually graphic, giving the show a yellow light for violence.

Scrubs is not recommended for viewers under age 18.
