Now in its ninth season, this spin-off of C.S.I. set in New York is a hit in its own right.  Detective Mac Taylor leads a NYPD crime scene team that includes Jo Danville, Danny Messer, Lindsey Monroe, Dr. Sheldon Hawkes and Don Flack. Last season concluded with Mac being injured by a gunshot during an investigation.  He is back at work, and has a new lease on life, including a relationship with a chef who was the sister of a fallen cop Mac was friends with on the job.

Previous seasons have featured frequent references to deviant sexual situations, including lipstick residue from oral sex used as a clue, a group of sexual fetishists who serve as human furniture, and people who have sex while doing risky stunts like bungee jumping.  The show includes constant depictions of death and autopsy, and flashbacks recounting the way people were shot, stabbed, or raped. In a recent episode, a woman was killed by electrocution with a stun gun altered to deliver fatal voltage. Language includes uses of “damn,” “ass,” ‘hell,” “bastard,” “piss,” and “bitch.”

CSI: NY is not recommended for viewers under age 18.
