Narrated through a series of flashbacks from the future as a father talks to his teenaged kids, How I Met Your Mother is a comedy about a young man named Ted and how he fell in love with his wife. Back for its eighth season, Ted is still working as an architect and teaching classes at a university. He is also closer to meeting the infamous “mother.” At the end of season seven, it was revealed that Barney and Robin will marry sometime in the future, so this season will reveal their path to matrimony. Lily and Marshall have a new baby son, and Ted continues to seek his elusive future wife.
This program contains a large amount of adult content. Language used includes “damn,” “hell,” “bitch,” “bastard,” and “ass” with moderate frequency. Sexual content is heavy: men on this series have visited strip clubs more than once; Barney is obsessed with bedding as many women as possible (his count being over 100); and Ted claims he wants to meet his future wife, but he has a lot of sexual encounters in the meantime. This season has featured Barney trying to write sex with strippers into his pre-nuptial agreement, Robin enjoying sex better with her boyfriend when she can watch herself on TV in the background, and Barney trying to have “Bangtoberfest” after he breaks things off with his fiancée. Violence is not a problem for the program.
How I Met Your Mother is not recommended for viewers under age 18.
